Movement for Under 5s (18m-5yo)
Gymnastics and ninja programs help young children develop vital gross motor skills, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, strength and body awareness.
These physical skills, which are indelibly intertwined with brain development, help children grow abilities they will use throughout their lives and, importantly, gives them confidence and abilities they will need when they start their schooling.
Balance Brisbane programs can also help them develop important social skills, such as taking turns, following instructions and encouraging others.
Programs include a range of age-appropriate coaching and skill development, including:
- Rolling forward, backward and sideways
- Climbing, hanging, traversing and swinging on low-level equipment such as mini bars and beams
- Static and dynamic balancing exercises on a variety of different heights, widths and densities of equipment
- Manipulating different types of balls and other items
- Learning the shapes and language of gymnastics that are the foundations of all activities in sport.
- One foot and two foot jumping, learning to push from toes
- Basic stretching and flexibility exercises
- Games and activities that encourage gross motor development and coordination
And, of course, it’s a great way to introduce young children to physical activity and to foster a love for exercise and movement in a colourful, padded environment with engaging coaches.

Gymnastic Programs for Under5s
Mini Monkeys (18mths - 3yrs)
Parents join their little monkeys in this class and it teaches the beginnings of gymnastics. Dominant movement patterns is the official language but your climber will be over and under equipment, jumping, hanging and rolling to gain greater balance, strength, co-ordination and body awareness in different positions across all the gymnastics equipment. Classes are 45 minutes. Our Mini Monkeys classes are fun, engaging and physically appropriate for young children. They provide physical activity and motor skill development, promoting overall health, fitness, and coordination. Each Mini Monkey needs to bring an adult to help them and have fun too!
Juniors (3-4 years)
Parents are encouraged to allow their child to engage in this class without parents entering the gym, but can be involved when needed or requested. Greater confidence builds in this class as more gymnastics - specific elements take shape. Lots of formative stages around body and spatial awareness occur at this age and improvements in grip strength and confidence in using the apparatus are observed. Classes are 45 minutes long.
Kindy (4-5 years)
The year before school is full of milestones around movement. Body control improves, listening skills are enhanced and the children are gaining more gymnastics skills with the beginnings of mini handstands being displayed. Lots of animal walks that promote coordinated movements and some impressive rope climbs start to show. A strong focus on safety and strong landing positions as these kindy kids feel very confident in their new found skills. Classes are 45 minutes long.
Kindy Ninja (4-5 years)
Our Kindy Ninja classes build a foundation for a lifelong love of physical activity and includes activities like obstacle courses, agility training, balance and flexibility exercises, strength training all in a fun game-based environment. Kindy ninja is the beginnings of the parkour and tricking pathway that we call Ninja.
Great for Kids
My daughter has been taking gymnastics classes at this gym for 3 years and we couldn’t be happier with the program. The coaches are great with the kids, always encouraging and supportive. My daughter has also grown so much in her strength and flexibility and confidence.
